In last week's video I shared my take on #psychologicalsafety and its importance in enabling people and teams to thrive, perform and adapt.
One factor associated with cultivating this sort of environment is how we respond to mistakes. Are we open about them, and use them to contribute to learning, or do we try to hide them, because we worry that others will see our mistakes as weaknesses?
Leaders need to role model a positive approach to mistakes, making it okay for others to be open about their own mistakes, so that we can learn and grow.
So, it is with this in mind that I share this video with just a small selection of the mistakes that I made during the production of my series of flockofcats videos.
I'd like to thank Celia Powell for not only producing this outtakes video (which I am sure could have been MUCH longer), but also for creating an environment in which making mistakes was simply part of the performance and learning process.
I'd encourage you to reflect on how you respond to you own mistakes and those of the people you lead and work with.
I hope you enjoy this small sample of my mistakes...
